About Dr Tom Morgan
Clinical experience.
Human perspective.
I am an NHS GP Partner and private GP with a longstanding special interest in mental health.

Good care begins with understanding the person, not simply identifying a diagnosis.
Training and general practice
I completed a first-class BSc (Hons) in Physiology at the University of Southampton before qualifying in medicine from the University of Bristol in 2011. My medical and GP training took place across hospitals and general practices in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
I am a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and now work as a GP Partner at The Boathouse Surgery in Pangbourne, alongside my private general-practice work. I am also a qualified assessor in adult ADHD.
Mental-health experience
For seven years, I worked within the Reading Mental Health Crisis Team, caring for people experiencing complex and urgent mental-health difficulties. I also helped establish a Berkshire service designed to improve collaboration between primary and secondary mental healthcare.
That experience taught me the importance of taking time to understand how symptoms, relationships, work, sleep, medication and physical health fit together. It also reinforced how easily physical-health problems can be overlooked when someone is struggling psychologically.
A whole-person approach
General practice offers a particularly broad clinical perspective. I can consider mental-health symptoms alongside cardiovascular and metabolic risk, medication effects, sleep, hormones and other physical conditions that may contribute to how someone feels.
Private general practice provides the time to listen properly, build a clear clinical picture and agree a plan collaboratively. My aim is to offer mental healthcare that does not overlook the body, and physical healthcare that understands the mind.
Away from medicine
I live in South Oxfordshire with my wife, our two energetic boys and Poppy, our much-adored golden retriever. I enjoy family life, the local countryside and watching cricket whenever time allows.
