Contact Total Health →
01How much does the service cost?+

Please contact Total Health West Berkshire for current fees and appointment options. Any additional tests or monitoring will be discussed with you before they are arranged.

02Do you see children or young people?+

No. This service is for adults aged 18 and over. Total Health West Berkshire may be able to advise about other appropriate services for children and young people.

03Where are you based?+

I see patients in person at Total Health West Berkshire, Lower Barn, Lower Henwick Farm, Turnpike Road, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG18 3AP. The clinic is on the Newbury–Thatcham border and has free parking. You can call the clinic on 01635 791 301 or visit the Total Health West Berkshire website.

04What days can I be seen?+

Most of my private clinical work takes place on a Tuesday. If a Tuesday appointment is difficult, evening appointments on other days can sometimes be arranged. These are offered by prior agreement and subject to availability, so please mention your preferred days and times when making an enquiry.

05How long is the comprehensive assessment?+

The comprehensive mental and physical health assessment lasts 60 minutes. An optional pre-appointment questionnaire helps provide more time to focus on the issues that matter to you. The appointment considers your background, current difficulties, medication and physical health before agreeing a personalised plan. Blood tests can be arranged where clinically indicated.

06Do you offer a shorter mental-health appointment?+

Yes. A 30-minute standard GP mental-health appointment may be useful when you have one main concern, would like to talk through a specific problem, or need a focused medication or treatment review. If your situation needs a broader assessment, this can be discussed with you.

07Can you supply prescriptions?+

Yes. Where medication is clinically appropriate, I can issue a private prescription. You pay the pharmacy directly for the medication, and private medication prices vary.

Some NHS GPs may later agree to take over repeat prescribing or enter a shared-care arrangement, but they are not obliged to do so and acceptance cannot be guaranteed. Until this is agreed, prescribing remains private.

08Can you organise repeat prescriptions?+

Yes, where ongoing prescribing has been clinically agreed and the appropriate reviews and monitoring are up to date. I can issue an electronic private prescription through SignatureRx.

You receive a prescription authorisation code by text message or email. Take the code and your date of birth to a UK community pharmacy, which can retrieve the prescription electronically. The pharmacy will confirm stock and charge you privately for the medication and dispensing.

09Will you let my NHS GP know?+

Yes. Safe mental healthcare works best when it is joined up. I will normally send your NHS GP a summary of the assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, medication and any relevant physical-health findings so that they are kept informed.

I will explain what is being shared. If you have particular concerns about communication with your GP, please raise them with me; there may nevertheless be situations where sharing relevant information is necessary for safe care or because of a serious risk.

10Can I book only an ADHD assessment?+

Yes. You do not have to book the comprehensive mental health package first. A standalone adult ADHD assessment can be booked directly through Total Health West Berkshire. The assessment considers developmental history, current symptoms, day-to-day impairment and other possible explanations. QbCheck may be added where objective information would be useful.

11Do you offer ADHD medication titration?+

Yes. ADHD medication titration is arranged through the specialist prescribing service at Total Health West Berkshire.

Titration means starting medication carefully and adjusting it over time to find the best balance of benefit and side effects. It includes monitoring symptoms, sleep, appetite, mood, blood pressure, pulse and weight. Once treatment is stable, your NHS GP may be asked to consider shared care; if they decline, ongoing private prescribing may be available.

12Does an ADHD diagnosis automatically mean medication?+

No. Medication is one possible treatment, not the purpose of assessment and not the right choice for everyone. Your plan may include education about ADHD, practical adjustments, psychological support, coaching, treatment of co-existing difficulties and attention to sleep and physical health.

13What happens after my appointment?+

You will receive a clear written plan. With your agreement, this may include a diagnosis or formulation, treatment options, recommended investigations, physical-health priorities and follow-up arrangements. A summary will normally also be sent to your NHS GP.

14Who manages my booking and medical records?+

Total Health West Berkshire manages all bookings and controls the patient records for this service. Booking links on this website take you to the Total Health website, and this website does not ask you to submit clinical information directly.

15Can you arrange blood tests or physical-health checks?+

Yes. Where clinically indicated, physical-health measurements and blood tests can be arranged through Total Health West Berkshire. This may include blood pressure, pulse, weight, cholesterol, glucose or HbA1c, liver function, thyroid tests and other targeted investigations. Tests are chosen according to your history and treatment rather than applied as a fixed panel to everyone.

16Do you see people with conditions other than mental-health difficulties?+

Yes. I am a qualified and practising GP, so I can assess and manage a broad range of general medical concerns—not only mental health and ADHD. Standard private-GP appointments can be booked through the Total Health West Berkshire website. Emergencies and out-of-hours problems remain more appropriately managed through NHS urgent-care services.

17Can you prescribe weight-loss injections?+

Yes. I provide GP-led assessment and prescribing for weight-management injections through Total Health West Berkshire. Treatment is only prescribed where it is clinically appropriate, following a medical assessment and discussion of benefits, risks, alternatives and ongoing monitoring.

You can read about eligibility, appointment fees and medication costs on the Total Health West Berkshire weight-management page. The medication itself is charged separately from the consultation.

18Is this a crisis service?+

No. This is not an emergency or crisis service, and online enquiries are not monitored continuously.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or attend A&E. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.

NOT FOR CRISIS OR URGENT HELP

Call 999 if there is immediate danger. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
